45 days to move 150 people from Sweden to Germany
Having previously moved 150 people to Scandinavia for a short-term project, the customer required assistance to relocate them back to Germany. For this return trip, the customer chose to engage an alternative service provider to the one who moved them initially. AGS Global Solutions made a compelling proposal and was awarded this complex, one-off contract.
Details
- Fixed contract for a set number of people.
- Physical relocation of multiple small volume shipments.
- Each of the 150 people would be travelling alone.
- All packing and shipments to be done in December.
- Timing of deliveries to homes in Germany was more flexible, allowing for travel restrictions and Bank Holidays.
An escalating process of collections and deliveries
The main objectives were to consolidate shipments into as few deliveries as possible and make sure each person’s belongings were safely returned to their German home within two weeks of collection from Sweden.
Packing was organised to run across consecutive days within the different locations. Each consignment was then collected by small shuttle vans and delivered to a large truck that was centrally located.
Once a week a full truck returned to Germany with approximately 30 to 40 peoples’ belongings. The next truck was then dispatched to collect more shipments, ready to return to Germany at the end of the following week. This not only reduced the cost of the move, but also its carbon footprint.
The process continued throughout the month, until all belongings were returned to Germany. Upon arrival, the shipments were consolidated, ready to be delivered to their respective destinations.
Service scores reflect service excellence
AGS Global Solutions met the KPI for all shipments from Sweden by the 31st of December.
The overall process took six weeks from collection in Sweden to delivery in Germany. Each person’s belongings were returned to their home within two weeks of being collected from Sweden, with one or two pre-agreed exceptions, where the person was unavailable to receive delivery. In those cases, the belongings were held in warehouse until their owner was ready to take delivery.
Crucially, all the assignees and the customer were entirely satisfied with the quality of the project.
“Big compliments to our colleagues at the moving company.”
