Olympics 2024: Why now is the time to apply for your visa to France

Jeux Olympiques d'été de 2024 à Paris, France : Anticipez vos besoins de relocation

From 26 July to 8 September, France will be the centre of the world. And with good reason: L’Hexagon is hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics. A new chapter for Paris and the greater Île de France region, but a major challenge for all mobility and logistics professionals.

Athletes and their delegations, media from all over the world, officials and spectators… More than 16 million visitors are expected to attend. As a result, the number of visa applications is set to multiply.

France has been preparing for the influx since January 2024. The country opened an Olympic consulate, the first of its kind, to centralise all visa applications for ticket holders, athletes and organisers. The online platform aims to speed up the processing time for those competing in events.

Nonetheless, the increased volume of applications will affect a wide range of travellers, including internationally mobile professionals and their families.

They may have to wait much longer than usual for their visas – a delay that could have real repercussions on their relocation timelines. If your assignees are relocating during this period, it’s best to anticipate their immigration requirements well in advance, as the time required to obtain an immigration visa could be lengthened.

So far, no delays have been reported, but with four months until the start of the games, this could still change. AGS Relocation is paying close attention to visa processing times and will keep you informed.

As part of our services, AGS Relocation can help you smooth the way and make your move to France easier during this period. Our head office in Paris is equipped with a full-service immigration department that can ensure your visa application is complete and correct from the first submission, helping you to prevent avoidable delays.
